"I am an active 39-year-old who was new to cycling and to the growing sport of triathlon. My goals to compete in my first triathlon and to keep up with the fast group at social rides prompted me to hire Mike as a trainer. Having a full-time career, a family, and an active 6-year-old leave very little time for any serious training. With a time constraint, training smarter and not longer was my only option. Mike understood this and created a training regiment that fit my schedule. The training was intensive but not overreaching. Using a heart-rate monitor combined with my established heart rate zones, Mike designed weekly interval training to improve cardio, increase lactate threshold, and build power and strength.
